From Kickoff to Launch: Building Websites that Work

Every website project needs someone who can connect the dots — between content and design, team and client, ideation and execution. That’s where I come in — and stay. I’m with the project from beginning to end, making sure it’s clear, collaborative, and my clients’ websites are crafted with care.

Let's Discuss

Project Leadership

I'm here. Start to finish.

From the start, clear communication and thorough planning are crucial. I work closely with the Account Manager, creating both detailed and high-level timelines that are tailored to the unique needs of each project phase. Clients are kept informed and supported from kickoff to launch and should always be aware of the status of their project.

  • Guides client expectations & communication
  • Creates both high-level & detailed phased schedules
  • Acts as a consistent point of contact
  • Coordinates across teams to maintain momentum

Discovery

I'm watching you, Wazowski.

Before designing something new, I want to understand what already exists—and how people are actually using it. I review analytics, user behavior, existing content, and the current digital experience to identify what’s working, where users may be struggling, and where opportunities exist.

I bring those findings into discovery with the broader project team, using data alongside stakeholder insights to ask better questions, uncover constraints, and establish a shared understanding of the problem before we begin solving it.

True Confession: I’ve been known to eat popcorn while watching HotJar recordings, like I’m casually taking in an episode of Law & Order: SVU.

  • Conducts comprehensive site audits across UX, content, design, and functionality
  • Analyzes Google Analytics, Hotjar behavior, and existing marketing materials to identify insights and opportunities
  • Audits findings and cross-functional team input to shape discovery questions and guide client kickoff
  • Translates discovery insights into a finalized Creative Brief and Project Questionnaire

Strategy

Let's get it started (in here!)

A strong experience starts with structure. I translate what we’ve learned through discovery into an information architecture that balances user needs, business goals, content priorities, accessibility, and SEO.

Depending on the project, I use sitemaps, content models, user flows, and wireframes to define how information is organized and how users move through the experience. This is also where component-level thinking begins—identifying reusable patterns and content needs before visual design takes over.

  • Designs sitemaps according to Content Strategist specifications
  • Provides insights from a UX, SEO, ADA or Best Practices perspective
  • Crafts content blocks and/or wireframes according to project needs

Design

It's alive!

With the experience defined, I translate strategy and structure into a visual system. In Figma, I design responsive interfaces with attention to hierarchy, typography, interaction, accessibility, and consistency—using reusable patterns and component-level thinking to create experiences that can scale beyond a single page.

Visual storytelling is also an important part of my work. When a project calls for custom photography, video, graphics, icons, or illustration, I help shape those elements so they feel intentional and connected to the larger experience.

  • Designs high-fidelity prototypes built with user experience in mind
  • Provides photography planning, art direction, and coordination
  • Illustrates and designs custom graphics according to project needs

Development

Nerd alert — let's GO.

My job doesn’t end when the Figma file is handed off. I stay closely involved through implementation, collaborating with developers to work through technical constraints, clarify interaction and responsive behavior, review builds, and conduct design QA.

My hands-on experience with WordPress, HTML, and CSS also gives me a practical understanding of how designs translate into working interfaces. Whether I’m partnering with a developer or building directly within a CMS, I’m always thinking about both sides of the experience: what the user sees and how the system works behind it.

  • Collaborates with various developer partners for handoffs and QA
  • Builds directly in WordPress utilizing themes and custom styling
  • Manages project team, client feedback, revisions and timelines

Launch and Learn

To infinity — and beyond!

Launch isn’t the end of the experience. Before a site goes live, I work with the team to QA responsive behavior, accessibility, content, functionality, and visual consistency across the finished product.

After launch, I create documentation and training that help clients confidently use the systems we’ve built. When possible, analytics and user behavior give us the opportunity to keep learning—identifying friction, evaluating performance, and refining the experience over time.

  • Conducts responsive, accessibility, and design QA
  • Creates documentation and customized client training
  • Reviews post-launch analytics and user behavior
  • Supports ongoing optimization and iteration
