Consider this a handshake.
Hi there! I’m Alex — a designer, illustrator and maker based out of Richmond, VA. I’m a paper lover, an avid reader, a homebody, and a hybrid unicorn that thrills over a great cup of coffee. I’m an extroverted introvert — so while I love chatting and hanging out, you’ll most likely find me cuddled up on the couch with my dogs when I’m trying to recharge. I love what I do, and I’m excited you’re here so that I can share it with you!
Undergrad
I want to do it all.
I wasn’t one of those kids that knew what I wanted to do from the start. It took some exploring — an experience that has proved invaluable in my career. After several seasons of exploration, I landed in The Art Building and fell in love — with the painting, the drawing, the design and the way it all seamlessly flowed together. I didn’t want to choose one path — I wanted to take them all. So I did.
I graduated from Old Dominion University with a double concentration in Graphic Design and Illustration and a minor in Marketing. And I’ve been putting all of those skills (and more) to work ever since.

At Work
Did you clear your cache?
By day, I’m the Director of UX & Web Strategy at a marketing agency in Richmond. At work, you’ll most often find me elbows-deep in a website strategy and design, building out a site in WordPress, or asking people if they’ve cleared their cache and resized their website images (I’m watching you!).
While I love almost any website project, the special ones are for nonprofits — they really make my heart sing! One of the things I love most about my day job is the emphasis we place on helping those that help our community — getting to use my skills to give back to those that are giving back is one of my favorite parts of my job.
Freelance
I'm a sentimental sap.
My freelance project, Constantly Alexandra Design and Illustration, has been active for over ten years now. The work comes in waves — sometimes I keep pretty busy, and sometimes I lay low for awhile. And I’m happy that way.
CADI started off as a wedding-focused hustle specializing in wedding invitations and signage. These days, while I still do the occasional wedding, my focus is on the more sentimental stuff — house portraits, nursery decor, family and pet portraits, custom artwork and more. I love capturing moments that people can revisit over the years, and it’s one of the most rewarding elements of this work.

A picture is worth a thousand words.
I’m always up to something new. Visit my portfolio of work to learn more about my current and past projects.
